The condom is the third most popular form of birth control. It is a device which more than 90 per cent of the population knows about. However, what people don’t know is that there are also some disadvantages of using a condom. Here these have been elaborated in detail.
Disadvantages of using a condom:-
Some people have latex allergies, so they may not be able to use the condoms regularly. An alternative for this would be to use polyurethane condoms, or a condom which is generally made out of lambskin. These are more expensive than the regular condoms available in the market.
Condoms reduced the sensitivity during an actual intercourse, which is a commonly voiced concern with couples who opt for condoms as a method of contraception. Some couples also claim that the pleasure during the course of sex is reduced due to the barrier that is posed by the latex condom.
Condoms cannot be used with any type of oil-based lubricants, only water-based ones. Oil-based lubricants can cause the latex material of the condoms to disintegrate and the condom may tear during sexual intercourse.
Excessive friction during intercourse may cause the condom to tear, which in turn may result in an unwanted pregnancy. This issue can be avoided by waiting before covering the penis with the condom during sexual intercourse. However, this need for interruption of the act can be a mood killer.
